Derek Tippins
Founder & Managing Director
Derek Tippins brings more than 20 years of experience in petroleum supply, marine logistics, and energy market development to NexGen Oil & Gas, Inc. His career spans domestic and international markets, with deep expertise in petroleum product sourcing, marine transportation coordination, and building the relationships that move energy from supply to demand.
Prior to founding NexGen, Derek developed extensive experience working across the U.S. petroleum supply chain and building commercial relationships in West Africa, particularly in Nigeria, where he has cultivated long-standing partnerships with local operators, port contacts, and energy stakeholders.
At NexGen, Derek leads the company's commercial strategy, market development, and day-to-day operations. His focus is on connecting reliable petroleum supply with the markets and partners that need it — across the United States, Nigeria, and West Africa.
His approach is grounded in relationships, reliability, and a long-term view of how energy markets in emerging economies will grow and evolve.
Michael J. Lee, CFA
Investment Strategy & Capital Advisory
Michael J. Lee, CFA brings more than 23 years of experience in investment management, financial strategy, capital allocation, and business growth to NexGen Oil & Gas, Inc.
Throughout his career, Michael has served in senior financial and investment leadership roles, including Chief Financial Officer and Chief Investment Officer. His experience includes working with investors, family offices, institutions, and global companies to develop investment strategies, manage capital, and identify solutions for complex financial and business opportunities.
At NexGen, Michael provides strategic financial insight as the company expands its energy and marine logistics activities in the United States, Nigeria, and across West Africa. His experience in capital management and investment strategy supports NexGen's efforts to structure and finance marine assets, energy logistics projects, and long-term infrastructure opportunities.
Michael is a graduate of the University of Georgia, with degrees in Finance and Information Systems. He is a CFA Charterholder and a member of the CFA Institute. His approach combines disciplined financial analysis with practical business strategy and a strong belief in relationships, collaboration, and long-term value creation.
